i have a sony ericsson k810 and its battery died so i charged it. the battery icon didn't appear like it was supposed to. so i left it charging for about 3 hours but it doesn't want to turn on. when i first plugged it in, the infrared light shone for a few minutes then died.

yeah, that's it.
what's wrong with my phone?

if you had your phone for a while and you keep your phone in your pocket and not in a carry case a few things..
one the contacts where you plug in the charger could be covered with lint or just gunky build up cause you lotion your hands all the time... or b- your charger is dying.

suggestion...

Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol your charger contacts on your phone.

if that doesn't work.. then your going to need a multimeter.

you can test the DC voltage of the battery to see if there is a charge on it, as well as on your charger to see if its Producing a charge.

if your battery has a charge but the phone is not turing on, could be the contacts in your phone are dirty or the phone shorted some where and your screwed.

Sounds like a faulty battery. Take it back to the manufacturer and get it replaced. It should be under warranty.
