definitely chess -
I can't win at checkers because my kids cheat, at least with chess I have a slim chance. My oldest has started winning more though so I might have to adjust my strategy a bit or play more with my younger child who's just learning the in's and out's... But then again, she's beaten me quite a bit already!
(At least I still have a bit of hope there!!!)

Chess, checkers isn't as deep and mentally challenging

chess because its more complex and every piece has its own way of moving on the board unlike checkers where you can only go diagonal
