you know what, I don't know man. Its got bases and they use a ball so, that's my guess why they chose that name but on the other hand they also go a"round" those bases, but that's how we are man, its how we roll.

Because Americans Don't always like the idea of ENGLISH games being Good also they say lots of things diffrently like
sweets-candy nappy-dipper trousers-pants remote-chanel changer. All the same with diffrent names

Americans tend to name things in terms that they like.

see "rounders" and "origins of basball" on wikipedia. I see no mention of where the names come from. But rounders came first. And it originates in UK. So there, we did it first!
