Easter Island is also known as Rapa Nui. It was named "Easter Island" when the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen discovered it on Easter Sunday, 1722.

It's also one of the world's most isolated inhabited islands, about 3600 km west of Chile.

It is probably most famous for the "stone heads," or moai.
