We replaced the previous router with the netopia 3387wg-vgx. I was able to access the wireless network for a while then I started receiving error messages and cant seem to log on even though I typed in the 26 character encryption code and verified it.

Is it possible that someone has configured the router to disallow your device? Most routers allow you to limit the MAC addresses (the actual physical hardware address of your network adapter) that can connect to the router. If someone has configured yours incorrectly (or correctly if they are specifically trying to prevent you from using it), then you'll have to get the person with admin privileges on the router to fix it for you.

Write down the error message then contact the Routers manufactuers technical support. There should be a phone number in the manual which came with the device.
