Interesting question. Im guilty as charged of saying the "whydontyas". I think at the core though, it is not so much that I want to have a romantic dinner, movie, weekend, etc. What I really want is to be swept off my feet, surprised, romanced( if I plan it, Im not BEING romanced). I am planning a get-together. Women ( maybe all people) like to be swept off their feet, blind-sided with hawt passion. Planning it for yourself takes the heat off.

My wife makes all kinds of romantic plans, or brings up suggestions of things for us to plan together.
Yes, she sometimes has chided me for not taking the inititative in this respect. But your question implies a false "either or". It suggests that if the wife wants the husband to behave this way more often, then she is saying it must always be the husband who does so and that she bears no responsibility to do likewise. That has not been my experience.

Its the liberated woman's conundrum .....
They want to be "romanced" and "surprised", yet their women-lib side tells them that to do so they would have to give up CONTROL and thats not a good thing.
So, the solution is to TELL their man what he SHOULD do.
That way they get what they want, but they still have CONTROL over the situation.
Most women have become so accustomed to this mindset that its taken as a given in our society and they (and most men) don't even recognize that they are doing it.
Its also the MAIN reason wives NAG their husbands. Its not that they want you to do something, but they want you to do it on their timeline and exactly the way THEY want it done.
Its the feminist movement run amok - its no longer equal rights, its over-entitlement.

Well then you should look out for that type of woman - a super planner. While I do special things for my husband, it's not grand gestures. It's more like a special meal. Men are supposed to be and should be the ones who take charge and dazzle their women.

well for me its not that I expect it I just would appreciate it..I am the one who does all the planning, and all though I cant speak for all the other women in the world, I can imagine its the same for them as well...I would just appreciate it if he could or would take over from time to time....its not that the men ALWAYS have to, it would just be nice if they did every now and again....cause like I said in most cases its the woman who does the majority of the planning...

Well, I for one, buy concert tickets as a surprise for him (the concerts he loves), treat him to dinner once in a while at a new restaurant he'd love, call him just to say I love you, cook special meals, leave little notes, etc. etc.
So ... don't think it is that the wives don't do these things; think many wish their husband would surprise them once in while also.
