Andi walked through the hallway to her homeroom. Her eyes were glued to the floor and she clutched her journal to her chest with both arms. Her bag, weighted heavily with books, banged against her hip as she shuffled along. Her mud stained tennis shoes squeaked noisily against the white tile when she slid into her seat in the back row. The final bell rang. Someone stood behind her and pulled the long, greasy, black, hair which hung halfway down her back in a tangled web.

What do you expect to happen next?

Andi seems to have poor mental health--depression and low self-esteem. Her grooming suggests that she doesn't care much about herself, as does the fact that she goes around with her eyes cast down and sits on the back row. Evidently her classmates pick on her, but it's hard to tell which is cause and which is effect. Do they pick on her because of her differentness, or is it the result of being picked on? As for what happens next, there are several possibilities. Does someone, such as the teacher, intervene? Does she burst into tears? Or does she explode and turn on the person who pulled her hair?

I expect her to turn around & snarl at the person. Andi seems like a stray dog, poorly cared for and just trying to survive - she gets kicked a lot, but when trapped she'll bite to protect herself. (She lives through her journal.)
Then the person who pulled her hair will do something else cruel, maybe make a comment about her hygiene.

I expect that she will be in pain from someone pulling her hair but will be too shy to do anything about it.
