for my chemistry homework, i have to make lewis structures. do i just make textboxes with periods? or what? please help

You could use the 'Drawing' toolbar to make the small circles and fill them with black, the line tool could be used for the vertical = signs and there are brackets in the 'AutoShapes' - 'Basic Shapes'. Once you have made one set of black circles and re-sized them, 'Group' them by clicking on the first and, holding the 'Shift' key, click on the second. Click on the Draw button and choose 'Group', this will make it easier to copy them for the next set.

I have never seen an editor for Lewis structures. Never looked for it!
I would guess you could design the structures as images, then just insert them in your document.
