Not necessarily who is your favorite, I'm talking about an actor who can play many different types of roles and completely nail each of them.

A few that come to mind are Garry Oldeman, Daniel Day Lewis and Dustan Hoffman.

Did we forget Tom Hanks???
Look at the range in this man's talents.
Remember these classics: Big, Apollo 13, Road to
Perdition, Bachelor Party, Cast Away, Sleepless in Seattle,
Da Vinci Code, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, The Polar Express, Forest Gump etc. etc. etc.
And his TV series: Bosom Buddies?
This man can do anything & be anyone, & always be convincing!

Dustin Hoffman is a really good example. I also think perhaps Robin Williams as although he does play a lot of comic characters he has played amazing roles in Thrillers and Sad/Emotional movies.

How about Reese Witherspoon? She has played everything from the wife of Johnny Cash (for which she won an Oscar), a slutty teen, an evil teen, a goodie-too-shoes teen, a ditzy blonde and several romantic leads.

I would also put John C. Reilly up there as one of the most underrated actors. From a musical role in Chicago, to goofball comedies, to rednecks and corrupt policemen...this guy nails it all.

i'm gonna say Johnny Depp. he's performed in all styles of videos. darkish ones like Sleepy Hallow and Sweeny Todd. To action experience like Pirates of the Caribbean. youngster's/myth like Charlie and the Chocolate production facility. Comedy like deepest motel. Drama like Blow. he's done all of it. And the whole section is...in case you probably did not understand it changed into him, it could be very confusing to inform a similar actor performed Jack Sparrow as did Willy Wonka.

I agree with your choice of Dustin Hoffman.
I would also suggest Jack Nicolson. and Meryl Streep.
Im not sure I spelled his name right.
If you were to look back at their movie careers, they have each done many different type of roles with precision.
Meryl Streep has the ability to use a different dialect for each different role.

Cate Blanchett, she's played an elf-queen, a queen, a naughty teacher, a reporter, and so many other things. And she does it well!

And now she's playing Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There".

Al Pacino...usually any actor/actress that can portray negative emotions (anger, sadness, anxiety) well is considered good at their craft.
