Because we live in a culture that finds the idea of two women being intimate attractive, but doesn't feel the same way about two men being intimate. It's sort of a cultural double-standard.

Come on man. Double standards make this world go round!
(Not to say that I approve of them or anything)
AND
Lesbians do two things that men love, each other and sports. And we all know who's REALLY making the big decisions on who to hate on.....

Ohkatie is right. Women are viewed as sex objects in a patriarchal culture and so lesbains are not threatening to men, but instead are titillating.

Men don't find women threatening. They see men as competition, so two women being together is seen as sexual, where as two men together is seen as twice the threat.
Its just a natural response to sexual urges.
Its not right but is natural.
