Game is doin it.
Lupe is doin it.
Why would you do that??? I can understand if somewhere down the line you get tired and decide to retire, but when you already have your retirement *PLANNED*??? I don't know... that really bothers me... if you look at all the legends, none of them have 3 albums. How many did Rakim have? Nas? Etc? What do ya'll think?

Its not about the quantity, its the quality that's more important. That's the problem today, the quality just isn't there, with a few exceptions.

Because it is the record companies deal of making three records with an artist then either out of fear of losing profit or the artists lack of creativity or to manipulate fans by going away for awhile and coming back with a fourth album. I hate to say this and I really mean not harm to no one, but I do kind of like it when artist were shooting the hell out of each other and when some described how they got to the top out of the ghetto. Rapping about how they came from rags to riches or how they survived prison, or a shooting, etc., or even a good song about a dance trend or catchphrase gives a lot of songs substance.

There trying to go out on top of there game. I can't really blame them for that. Although your right, it definatley leaves us (the fans) dissapointed. I also think it shows a lack of love for hip hop and making good music. I guess you could classify it as laziness as well. But it's all about the money, not the fans or love anymore.

good point i haven't really thought of it maybe it is safer for the record companies that way to just sign them a 3 album contract so the sell because unless you are a good rapper after those 3 albums all your sounds and talent has been heard and no one wants to buy the 4th album so record companies loose money

I think the new trend is like Jordan, retire after 3, leave them wanting more, then come back with 3 more, while they still want you.

It might be that they are ready for a change....you know people do things for different reasons. Maybe they need time for family health you never know.....and they just might be testing waters to see if they will be missed out there.

Better to leave them wanting more than to be a tired old has-been. Cash in, never have to work again, and enjoy life.

Maybe it because they are fed up with what's happening in the music industry, especially in hip-hop.
