It depends on what you mean by uncoordinated...
There is no question that skiing is a lot easier pick up on your first day. Most people can get down the bunny hill withough falling after their first lesson.
You should expect to spend at least a few days on a snowboard before you're linking turns and riding properly.
The one area where skiing is tough for beginners is just the amount of stuff you have to deal with and carry around. You've got 2 poles and 2 skiis to carry around and deal with when you fall. Snowboarding you've just got your boots which you're wearing and your board.
So if you don't have great balance, I would start w/ skiis. But if you don't want to deal with a lot of stuff and you're patient snowboarding would be the better choice.

I grew up skiing and loved it. I tried snowboarding once and have never put on skis since. Skiing is fun, but it can't compare to what you will experience on a snowboard. If you decide to snowboard, spend about an hour stretching before and after your first day at the mountain. That helps with the high degree of pain that most people experience after their first day. Helmets are cool too.

Snowboarding is easier to learn for the first few days but hard to master - you can keep getting better for years. I prefer snowboarding as you can have more fun than skiing in the powder, in the crud - basically everywhere except hard groomed runs and icy conditions.
Snowboarding in the powder is the best - it is like floating over the snow. Snowboarding is more constant in different conditions where as skiing requires different techniques in powder, spring conditions, etc. And as for doing tricks, snowboarding is a lot better.
Good Luck

well...Skiing seems more natural because of the position of the body...but seems harder because there are poles and those really uncomfortable boots.
Seeing that you are in a snowboard forum...you are going to get a lot of votes for snowboarding! haha
I think anyone who is willing to try hard and endure some falls can learn to snowboard. You just have to learn your body and how to react to situations. I've taught many friends and it is hard to tell someone how to do it. I learned by watching others and trying stuff and falling....ALOT. Good luck and have fun!

skiing is easier to learn, but tricks on a snowboard are easier. on skis you have more balance and control over your body. on a snowboard your just strapped to a random board with absolutely no sense of balance.
