memory of Joe Nuxhall is?

Some of you may not know Joe, but I am guessing there are plenty who do. Especially displaced Cincy fans around the country.

I think mine is the famous " This is the Ole' Lefthander, rounding third and heading toward home." Nothing could be more true on this sad November day.

Also, if you haven't voted for Joe for the HOF, make sure you do.

Sorry, I didn't mean to post a bad link. I am confused because it works for me.

You can acces it through the HOF website.

I have a cap I got at spring training a couple years ago, and had Marty sign it while I was down there. I toted it around in the car for about a year, knowing I would run into Joe somewheres. There he was one morning at Bob Evans up here in on Rte 4. Talked and talked and talked. Just a down to earth, genuine, good ol' boy. I now have a Reds cap, I'll treasure forever. He's going to be greatly missed here in Cincy.

I actually saw Nuxhall pitch a number of games late in his career when the Reds were playing the Dodgers. My best memory of him really had nothing directly to do with his pitching. Even on the days he was pitching he would come out of the dugout an hour or two before the game and talk to the fans. He would sign autographs for as many kids that wanted them and always had a smile on his face. Times have changed, haven't they?

LOL- this isnt meant to darken his memory somewhat, yet my funniest thoughts of Joe have been interior the mid to previous due 80's, while it exchange into obtrusive later interior the video games that he have been enjoying some beer, and he could start to slurr somewhat. "Thris is the ole lefthanderr, rrounding third and headed for homestead". LOL, we used to consistently get an outstanding snigger out of that. Marty and Joe- difficult to think of a greater acceptable combination.

He pitched a winning record on my classic fantasy team a couple of years back. So, I took him again with the intent to put him in as the number two starter . . . . woeful describes it!

In my short time in Cincinnati, Nuxie has been a likable character on broadcasts. I certainly voted for him before yesterday. He will be missed!

Oops, bad link.

Joe was in my collection of baseball cards when I was a kid. I wanted to break his record and be the youngest guy in the bigs. He was good. Always sad to see one of the icons go. (And he WAS an icon.)
