Of the bikes with rotary or Wankel engine, like Nortons, which is the fastest? Are they still being made?

There have been several rotary engined bikes made. The first was the German Hercules W2000, shortly thereafter was the Suzuki RE500 and then the Norton. Norton build them longer than the others but speed wise it was probably the twin rotor Hercules that was the fastest production bike. However, Norton made a racing version of theirs that was probably the fastest one ever built.

In theory, rotary engines are simple with fewer moving parts than a conventional internal combustion engine. However, by the time you make the rotary engine suitable for automotive type use they are heavy, complex, expensive, high maintenence (tip seals) and produce copious amounts of exhaust emmissions. Rotary engines are still built, not for producing horsepower but are instead used as air compressors.

not sure but the Norton was fasted and longest in production
no rotary bikes at present
