By LESLIE EATON
The state is the only one for which the Bush administration has waived the rule that 50 percent of its federal grants be spent on low-income programs.

It's a LAND GRAB (very sad)

Wealthy land developers have long had their eye on areas of New Orleans they consider to be ghettos and substandard.

It appears that hurricane Katrina gave them the opportunity to smoke out the home owners in these areas and they are being supported by Bush's FEMA in their land grab.

Bill Moyers featured this problem tonight, (16 November 2007) and I've included a link for the program.

It seems that the Governor, once Chair of the Republican National Committee, asked Bush to allow him to spend housing recovery money in the way he wanted. This has never been allowed before. After a year large amounts of money had flowed to big projects, many new, but nothing had gone to small housing. Only after two years passed did this phase II begin, but at a small fraction of what had been dispersed to big and new business.

Expensive condominium projects dot the landscape, but family owned homes have not been served.

Recently, the Governor decided to spend $600+ million of the money ear marked for low income housing on the Port. Once this was protested, the Governor backed off.

It seems that the only people standing between the Governor and his corruption is a small group of concerned citizens, STEPS. (Link provided.)

How very sad, all of this. To think these people position themselves as Christians.

I think neo-pirate works for an Insurance company. He obviously don't care about his fellow citizens. He should be careful, what goes around, comes around.
To answer your question, most people could care less about the great state of Mississippi therefore you won't hear to much about the injustice the insurance companies inflict on the folks down there.
I will say this about Ms.,those folks are strong law abiding,God fearing people for the most,,,they will survive this with or without the help of others.Unlike Louisiana who continues to abuse everything the Gov.has done for them.
