She slept for almost 8 hours night before last. While I am happy that she did, I was engorged when she woke up. I have increased my pumping schedule, but my one breast still hurts. I am draining it dry each time, and it's not hard or tender to the touch, it just hurts. What should I do?

The more you pump, the more milk your body will make. So pump just enough to ease the pain. This was the worst part of breast-feeding for me - trying to stop! Good luck and I have to say that I am soooo jealous that your 6-week old is sleeping 8 hours at a time! My son never did that until he was 15 months old!! LOL!!

attempt an electric powered pump (you are able to properly be waiting to hire one out of your scientific institution to be sure if that facilitates in the previous dishing out the dollars) or hand expression or the two. have you ever tried pumping at diverse situations of day, at the same time with first component interior the morning once you awaken or interior the middle of the night? in any different case... being "tied" on your infant for 6 months (or longer) isn't that undesirable. it quite is how that is meant to be quite. I breastfed my son completely for 6 months and persevered with solids after that. He did no longer get the different milk till after a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and he continues to be nursing at 19 months previous. he's never had a bottle, and the only time I even pumped for him exchange into whilst he exchange into ill and would not latch on so I placed the milk in a cup. Yeah it limits what you're able to do, yet it is component to being a mom. I additionally breastfed my daughter, and nevertheless I did pump and bottle feed her sometimes i exchange into never faraway from her for better than 2 hours till she exchange into properly over 6 months previous.

I only pumped breast milk to freeze it for when I had to go back to work. Luckily with a double electric pump this worked out really well. You may have a blocked duct. If the pain continues I would see your doctor. Join a La Leche League if there is one in your area. They are great support.

Stop pumping so much. Do it just enough to make the pressure bearable. Every tiem you pump you are tellgin your body to produce MORE milk, it will end up a vicious cycle. Just hand experess enought o ease your pain or take a warm shower.

Put your child to the breast and stop pumping. Then your body will be more inline with what your child needs.

maybe you are pumping too much.... yo better let your baby suck your nipple instead of pumping the milk out... it promotes infant-maternal bonding... its okay to wake her up at night and let her suck...
