Does that mean if elected, the Republicans have no plan to fix the economy, since they don't consider it to be broken in the first place ?

Is this just more "stay the course" type policy ?

One of the things that makes Republicans just unacceptable is their lack of imagination, of possibility, of something better.

Have you noticed that? Do you remember any Republican speeches that stirred you to join the Peace Corps or something?

Why should the economy be any different. As long as their friends on wall street are happy everything is good.

Yes, actually, most of the Republican candidates say things like "the Federal Reserve is doing a great job, and I don't want to interfere". So, they are playing the "stay the course" card. As a long-time Republican who understands a little bit about economics, I'm very disappointed in them. That's why I'm leaning toward Ron Paul, the only Republican candidate who has a clue what an economic policy is. Yes, the economy is very clearly broken. It isn't horrible yet, but it's pretty clear that it is deteriorating, and anyone with a lick of sense should be focused on that.

By the way, I don't see many of the Democrats talking intelligently about the economy either.

Americans know all the regulations will stop and that's a plus for the economy. A truth and fact the economy wasn't going to grow under democratic control congress.

The economy is its own entity. It has stimuli, yes, but not one thing controls it, especially not the president.

I think newly elected leaders, no matter who they are need to be less concerned with the economy, because it right now its fine, and stop spending so much of our tax dollars on pet projects wrapped in earmarks. The war chest needs to be closed, at least for a while to recover, and let's not move to another tax-and-spend government. It may be possible to recover all kinds of monies if we reevaluated out current status.

NO one I have talked to thinks the economy is doing good .

Only brainwashed neocons who support Bush believe the numbers pulled out of thin air to support a so called booming economy with job growth .

Fact is more people are closer to poverty today then 10 years ago .

one_for.... does it matter how good some people may say the economy is doing if we spend money four times as fast as we make it?

I mean.. if a person makes a million a year.. but spends 4 million to make it... they are still 3 million in debt....

If you a Republican the economy is doing fine, if your a democrat the economy is doomed. If your a Full Time American this country is still the greatest country on earth no matter who is President. Perceptions are very entertaining.
