If you go to google books, there are many old books scanned into the website that are primary sources made up of nurses, soldiers, doctors, etc writing about their experiences in the war.

The nurses in WW1 were right at the front lines doing brave service. They showed a great deal of courage to take care of the wounded men, for both sides of the war. There are many noteworthy history books of WW1, and you'll find good references to nurse action in most of them. I was just reading a fascinating story about Marie Curie, who operated the first mobile X-Ray unit at the front lines in WW1 (using her own radium), and she won the French Order of Valore for her bravery.

check this out.(the links)Remember that nurses during the war were short supplied as well as very short on staff. It would be more interesting 2 b a french or brit nurse...as those countries were invading europe....rather than a german nurse at home.i would suggest as an alternative "Gavrilo Princip"...the idiot who started the war. Also remember that nursing was not the only job for women..as they played a key role in weapon manufacturing.Hope this helped ...tc

I would suggest being a nurse from Canada (yes, they were in it), working in a rear-echelon field hospital, and you should probably talk about being surrounded by death (remember that medicine was not nearly as advanced as it is now) and you might want to make mention of soliders being affected by 'mustard gas,' a commonly-used nerve agent on battlefields.
Next time, get an earlier start on your homework, pumpkin.

You are a nurse in France, near the front in a place called the Ardenne Forest. They have just brought in a man who has "lost his manhood" due to shrapnel. He has a fiance waiting for him back home. You have to tell him what happened to him and advice him what to tell his fiancee.
