Unlike more cynical answerers i believe politics isnt all about lies and deceit.
Joining a local political party and getting your voice heard is the best way to get involved in politics.

Get involved with your local party. (Dem. or Rep.) Get active. Go every single month. Then after some people know you, run for something small, even if it's just the local School-Board. that's the bottom rung of the political ladder. Constantly educate yourself, even if it's just taking civics classes at Community College, it will benefit you a lot. Talk and Listen, to as many people as you can, even people at Bus Stops and other public places. Most people have a "take" and even if you don't agree with them, you'll come to an understanding of them that will help you in your public career.

Join a political party and attend meetings.
Volunteer to help your local party office and learn about the architecture of political theory and government.
If you have the tenacity and talent for speaking to people - you may well become your parties candidate - but even if your not, you may still end up on thier staff - which is as much a part of politics as being a representative.

Never answer a question with a simple yes or no.
As a matter of fact, never answer a question, just sit and look dumb.
If asked a question about your particular party - give a reply that is so far from the question that the person who asked the question will simply give up and walk away.
In other words train to be a complete tw@t.

Volunteer to work for a known candidate. Stay hooked in. Go to your neighbor hood meetings. Make coffee. Network the folks in the room. Stay clean. Keep active. Listen and learn.
Much more yet actual experience is so revealing. You'll get addicted. As I am. Best of luck !

Depends on which political party you want to join. With one of them, if you're a man you have to learn to lie, but if you are a woman you have to lie (in another sense). If you're UK and middle of the road an all male relationship may help.

Start small in local government and progress from there. Try becoming and aid or volunteer to work on a campaign and get known for your accomplishments at all levels.
Getting a law degree helps too.

Criticise the Govt always ,whether they do good or bad.Write your views through mass media. There will be always anti incumbency feelings, take advantage of that.
Constant criticism of PM is more desirable and will yield fast and better results.

Take a course on lying, lose all your morals, learn to smile while cheating and then have your brain taken out. You'll succeed. Oh sorry, learn how to enter your expenses and how to buy houses because you'll end up a millionnaire with 3 or 4.
