It seems like it's a requirement for old people to have at least 1 paper shredder, from my experience. Please help me uncover this phenomenon.

I think it's their cold war mentality combined with their unreasonable fear of technology that fuels this inexplicably strange phenomenon.
When they start shredding their grilled cheese sandwiches, though, it should be a red flag for all involved.

So they can Shred the money they printing on their ink-jet should the feds show up.
Well, actually it more to protect their personal information. Many people not realize how a person can go through your trash and learn all they need to become you. Get credit cards and passports etc.
Elderly people know this and shred or burn this type information.

This a quick article link. But, there many out there that explain how easy it is to obtain a person's Birth Certificate with just a little knowledge of the person.

Probably because they're scared to death of identify theft and one of the recommendations to prevent this to shred everything with personal info. Either that or they just want to make confetti.

If you have a job and throw your pay stubs away or toss other important info... you need a paper shredder too.

There is identity theft but I don't know- I think some people are TOO paranoid. I mean terrified of technology. Anyway, if they need to shred- let them shred away.

if you're willing to waste 5 points asking a stupid question, I am willing to earn 2 giving an answer......................chances are GEEZERS as you put don't want your stupid paper shredder, sadly if they are someone related to you and don't know how disrespectful you are to your elders, they would probably want to spend time with you. Of course if you act in front of them with the disrespect for them that you have on here, they probably won't want anything to do with you.
