Barry has been through divorces, steroid suspicion, overwhelming criticism from the media, and shunning by the Commissioner's office. Why wouldn't he be able to focus on baseball during an indictment? Steve Phillips' claims drive me crazy.

When his father Bobby was on his deathbed, Barry was so distracted that he hit only TWO extra-inning, game-winning walkoff home runs that weekend.

Totally folded under the pressure, huh? A REAL man would have hit three, at least.

...sigh....

Bonds has preternatural ability to focus on the thing before him. And he didn't get that from a bottle or a syringe or (insert feeble attempt at humor with a different medical implement here).

it is completely irrelevant because a team has to sign him in order for him to play. I believe the Giants saw the handwriting on the wall. It is laughable that Bonds told the owner of SF that he was better than anyone on the team, even on his worst day, or something to that effect. As an Indians fan who saw Omar Vizquel play in his prime and knew of his friendliness to the fans, I bristled at Bonds arrogance. Bottom line: who would even sign this guy? And let's assume that he could focus. Does some team want their fans in the stands screaming obscenities? Bonds might focus but what about the rest of the team? It would be like a traveling circus, adding a whole new meaning to road trip. I know in Cleveland during the playoffs they showed highlights from 2007 on the jumbotron and one was Bonds breaking the record. Boos erupted all over Jacobs Field with just a few seconds of a shot of Bonds on the jumbotron. 'nuff said!

No one will sign him.

Selig has known the depth and scope of the indictment for quite sometime, that is why he was a no show when the ***-terick "broke" the HR record. He is done as a quasi-baseball player. You can also probably count on Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson coming out of the wood work on this one.

Bonds might have helped the group, yet not as notably as you defined. He could've walked lots and hit your occasional long ball yet he's previous and hasn't performed in a protracted time. he's not the possibility he became in years previous and valuable does not have been properly worth all the **** the media and followers could provide the Cubs for signing him. And to all different posters: Championships gained isn't a good argument against Bonds. Ted williams did not win a worldwide series the two yet you're able to opt for him on your group does not you?

He might actually be able to pull this off, but no team would want this type of attention all next season.

Remember, it's not just about steriods but I heard mention of money laundering, etc. on ESPN last night.

Every team wants to be a contender and so much is on the line, that this type of pressure isn't good for any team. I say, the teams couldn't focus --- and he won't play next year.
