i know this is going to sound strange but i care less that a batter/fielder used them than a pitcher,i think PITCHING benifits more so from drug enhancement than does batting,BUT either way i care very little.
Just to add barry has said that HE HAS taken PED's he says he never KNOWINGLY took them he does belive that he has taken them he tested positive for them in 2001 or 2 by balco i belive.

If he was a nice guy, it would be a slightly different story. People would feel bad that a nice guy had sunk to the level of cheating. But in his case, the reaction (myself included) is "No surprise at all. He's scum." And he is scum. He does not love playing baseball. He loves being Barry Bonds. His bad attitude and cheating have done nothing but harm the sport of baseball. You're right, he's not the only cheater. In fact, baseball as a whole is completely in the toilet, and has been ever since George Steinbrenner bought up a pile of talent to "rebuild" the Yankees in the late 1970s. That was the true beginning of the "win at all costs" mentality which, along with greed, Prima Donna-ism, and arrogance, have destroyed the sport. As far as I'm concerned, none of his records count, nor do Mark McGwire's. Why don't people understand that there is a difference between a winner and champion.? Without honor, graciousness, and sportsmanship, there are no champions, and there is no sport - only merchandising and greed. Most home runs, lifetime: Henry Aaron Most home runs in a 162-game season: Roger Maris Most home runs in a 154-game season: Babe Ruth Most no-hitters, life-time: Nolan Ryan. Those guys are my true baseball heroes. Not outlaws like Barry Bonds.

Yes. I care because legendary players such as Shoeless Joe Jackson are still permanently banned from baseball and cannot be inducted into the Hall of Fame due to the Black Sox scandal. A player like George "Buck" Weaver from that same 1919 Chicago ballclub spent his life trying to prove his innocence and the stats are in his favor as is key testimony. His crime was knowing about the fix and not ratting out the other players in an era of murderous gangsters and gamblers. Those bans have stood for almost 100 years so why is Barry Bonds alleged cheating not important? If it is no longer important to break records or to win with integrity then take every single banned ballplayer off the ineligible list.

Yes--and while I have never liked Bonds much as a player, it is a shame that he couldn't have been content with being one of the best all-around players in the history of the game. Instead, he had to cheat and lie his way past Henry Aaron.
It sickens and saddens me.
I care a lot and have ever since he started getting bigger and stronger at such a late age for an athlete.

1st, let me say Bonds was a shoe-in HOF before his HR spree of the last few years. 2nd, let me say I'm a true-blue Dodger man so he isn't exactly my favorite player to begin with, but I have to give him his due as far as being one of the greats of the past 20 years or so. I have no doubt in my mind that he cheated and "his" records are tainted beyond repair.
True - steroids don't help you make contact with the ball but they allow to work out more often and more vigorously than normal or natural. Therefore they extend your career and give you more stamina and strength in your later years when naturally your endurance and physical level should be on the downslide or at least slipping slightly. I am 42 and I know that physically I couldn't approach some of the physicality of my 20s, however my mind is so ahead of my body right now I can think my way out situations that I used to muscle my way out of before. Bonds brain was peaking when he illegally and unethically lifted his body up to that peak level - and you see the results all over the record books. He is pathetic character though because his legacy was already solid before he decided he needed a lift. It was all in vain and due to mainly to jealousy and probably some greed. He sucks from every angle.

Yes, There is no other team sport where an individual can make such an impact by taking performance-enhancing drugs. I also subscribe to the fact that in many circles baseball is still "America's Game" and children still look up to players as idols (although my personal feelings are that athletes should never be role models) and henceforth they want to be just like them. Loo at how many NBA players are from Jordan's mold...
I care because he broke the law and sets a bad example of what sports in America has become.

Personally I dont care that much that he was on steroids. First let me say there is no doubt in my mind he cheated. The reason I dont care is because who knows who else was on steroids. For all we know Ripken Jr was able to stay healthy so long was because he was on them ( I doubt it but what if). The 2nd reason I dont care is because he still has to hit the ball. I bet the steroids helped him hit HR's but he still has to hit the ball. He didnt hit them only because of steroids. if I got on the "juice" I most likely wouldnt ever hit a HR because I'm not skilled in hitting the ball. And my last reason is he was a hall of famer without it. He was the best 5 tool player in the league before he started cheating. I do believe he started cheating because of the Sosa McGwire HR chase of 98. We all know bonds has a huge ego. He watched all the praise not to mention headlines the 2 of them were getting so he did what anyone with an ego as big as his. he followed suit so he could get more media attention.

If we were talking about some random person, then I wouldnt care. As soon as you put on that baseball uniform and become an idol to our young children, then I care. This guy is supposed to be a role model. He walks around with an attitude like he cant believe people are actually accusing him of using steriods and that his accomplishments are all natural. What a jerk. I hope he goes to jail to send a message out to other players and young kids that this crap is not tolerable.

Yes, because he has lied about it the whole time. It is not just him either that I am concerned about. Can't stand Big Mac either. Bonds had just been accused of lying even when they had given him immunity if he wanted to come clean.
The facts are that his ernormous muscle gain coincides with when he started training with Anderson and when Anderson started dealing with Balco. Other high profile Balco athletes have admitted to using steroids. Not so hard to connect the dots there.
So I want to see if he lied about the whole thing, because he broke a record of an amazing athlete, and he may have done it bey cheating.
