Not at all. Lots of women go to shop there when they are not showing at all. I shop all throughout my pregnancy.

And it's not uncommon to wear or buy maternity clothes when you're not pregnant. I wear some of my tops year round because they are so comfort, and some are also very flattering and feminine.

My measurements are about where you are (when not pregnant) - I'm 5 ft 6 in, 135 pounds but my hips are probably much bigger after 3 babies because my pants size is 10!

Go for it!

To start with, 5'5" 135 is in ****no way fat***, and don't let anyone tell you so. Geez, I haven't worn a 6 since 8th grade, and I'm 5'6" and only a little overweight. On topic, wearing loose, comfortable clothes is perfectly fine and normal, regardless of what current fashion trendites say. I'd go with trying to find regular clothes that are more in your line of comfort rather than maternity ones though, even if you get small ones they're going to look like maternity clothes still, and I doubt you'd want someone thinking that you *were* pregnant.
Find relaxed fit jeans or slacks, or comfy skirts that you like--maternity clothes are all stretch, and you risk making it easier to gain weight without realizing it if you wear them, it's like living in sweat pants.

I don't know that it would be weird, but, you are NOT fat! Not at all. 5'5" 135 is an average size. As far as clothes fitting properly, some of the clothing would be okay if you are not preggo, but a lot of the tops are made to flare out around a belly, and the pants would be too big, even in a small. You are right, though most of the maternity clothes are pretty comfy, its the woman's body thats not comfy...lol.

Why not? Many of the clothes I see now that are popular look like maternity clothes anyhow LOL. And 135 pounds at 5 foot 5 is not even a little bit overweight. Its perfect.

You don't need maternity clothes to be comfortable....there are tons of fashions now that are loose and comfortable. Maternity clothes are made differently to accommodate a big belly...they are longer in the front so if you are not pregnant it would look strange on you.

It's very common nowadays for girls and women to wear maternity type of clothes, even though they are not married. For some reason or another, that has become a fashion.
Don't worry, you won't be the only girl doing that.

Why not? When i go into some shops i think some of the maternity clothes are better than the ones that aren't for pregnant women!!

I like the stretchy waist!

LOL You don't need to buy maternity clothes. Just buy a bigger pants size then you normally do if thats what you want bigger clothes.
