And you have always celebrated it greatly, what do I do? I am having hard times this year, and it's not about the presents, it's just about everything, food, the commercials, the family, I mean I have nothing to give, especially to my son and daughter. Any suggestions? I am out of Miracles for the year.

I know how you feel. Christmas is commercialized for the rich, and it's the ones who need help we should be paying attention too. Bless you!

Try to get a seasonal job, stores are hiring right now, they are very flexible on hours and I know you can take the hours you are available to work. It would be a minimum wage but it would mean extra money to spend for a small gift for your kids and for food on Christmas.

Christmas is not supposed to be stressful, its a celebration of the birth of Christ. You can celebrate it with a nice meal and a couple of gifts for your kids.

And to answer your question if we celebrate it greatly, well that also depends on finances. When I was a kid, my parents were rolling in dough so we had a very big party and tons of gift giving etc. Now that I got married and my husband and I are just starting off, we have a strict finances, so we are planning to celebrate it very simple, a christmas tree with decorations inside the house, a couple of decorations outside. And the gift giving is just to the immediate family.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

Even if your kids are young, talk to them about being very tight on money this year. This is a good time for you too talk about all the changes in your lives and about how what really matters is your family being together in love for Christmas.
Try to cheer your selves up by making ornaments together or doing some baking. Go on a walk and look at the lights and decorated windows.
Be kind to yourself. If you have always "done Christmas big" realize that things have changed and it is ok for you to be sad about those changes.
I lost my husband several years ago when my kids were little. It was over the holiday season and it has really changed that way I feel about the holidays. There is always some sadness involved for me and the kids.

i know it is easy for people to say get a job, but sometimes a 2nd job is easy to have. this is not a time of year to be shy. call your local food banks, or churches, or salvation army. there is help out there if you look and ask. and talk to your children. depending on their ages call Toys For Tots to get presents. take time to sit and relax and remember the reason for the season. enjoy being alive and hopefully healthy. talk to you family and maybe make a special Christmas movie night. being together for Christmas is the most important thing. take a drive later in the season and enjoy the Christmas lights. just be thankful for what you have. god bless and merry Christmas!

First of all, don't be ashamed to ask for help, everyone has been or will be in the same position at some time.

See if local food banks and or charities in your area can give you a hand with food or presents. For instance my city does a Santa Fund and families sign up and receive assistance ranging from food to to gifts. You should see if there is something similar in your area.

Good luck to you!!
