Im under 19 and pregnant.
I live with my dad, my mother does not support me at all.
I have health insurance, but it does not cover pregnancy.

I am pretty sure that my dad makes about 80,000$ annually.

Can i qualify for medicaid?
Is there anything else i can do?

I was thinking i could switch health insurance in january right?

If your father claims you as a dependent, then you would not qualify for medicaid since his income is too high to receive federal assistance.

You could contact your insurance company and add maternity coverage.

Or, if you are single and file separately then you might qualify for medicaid depending on your income. You would need to contact your local health department or social services to get an answer to that question.

There's a possibility of a program that only takes into account what you make, even if you are under your father's roof, but it depends on what state you live in. Again, social services could let you know what's available in your area.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Medicaid is for extremely low earnings people decrease than 21 or over sixty 5. everybody in between that could be disabled, pregnant, blind, a clean immigrant, or have minor toddlers, as properly as being low earnings. So till your BF has an earnings of $900 a month and is disabled, he does not qualify for Medicaid. whether he did, it does not hide the toddler for the reason which you at the instant are not married. You dont assume unfastened wellness care once you're making $40K a 365 days? you're able to provide up something else like vehicle money and use that to pay your coverage rates. You dont know how fortunate you're to get team wellness advantages which will pay on your transport.

I am 23 and I applied for the mom's program medicaid and wick it took along time because my husbands and my income was 100 dollars over.
IO think the cut off line is 2,180 a month for a pregnant woman.

I also don't know if you can get medicaid because you have insurance? I don't really know, if your hospital offers the mom's program make an apt. with the head person and see what she/ he says about your situation. Theres other options they can give you if you don't qualify. If I didn't they were going to see if the hospital would cover the delivery by filing out a bunch of paper work. They are there to help.

usually if you live with someone else their income is counted towards your income eligibility for any public assistance (including medicaid) the only way you could get around this was prove (through rent reciepts etc) that you live there as a tenant and not as his child and he doesnt support you in any way. as far as switching to another insurance company (other than medicaid) they dont usually cover preexisting conditions so even if its a company that routinely covers pregnancy yours wont be covered. My sister was in a similar situation (her husband walked out on her 6 months pregnant) and she moved in with my parents but couldnt get assistance due to my fathers income...she actually had to apply(and move into) assisted housing in order to qualify for any type of help. In most states if you can prove that your dads house doesnt have enough bedrooms.....or your dad makes a statement saying hes not willing to raise your baby you get emergency type treatment to get you into a place ASAP. When my sister did it her rent was only like $12 a month until after the baby was born and she got a job (its based on a percentage of income usually)

You need to call a medicaide office and they will tell you what you need to qualify. I am 19 i have my own health insurance BCBS and work 40 hours a week. Not really sure how much i make annually but its not very much. probably about 30000. Your dads income will be the one that messes you up if anything. You can also see about getting WIC it helps alot let me tell you with milk cereal eggs and such. Good luck

Best thing for you to do is go apply... It will not hurt a thing. Their are so so so many different reasons why you can't get on it. So, take a mintue go apply and see what happens. Its worth it, because having a baby cost alot, plus when the baby gets here if you have medicaid it will be cover for one year, and that 1st year cost way more than the pregnancy!!

It depends on what state you're in.
I'm in NYS I was 18 when I got pregnant and applied for the MOMS program which only takes into account what YOU make, not what your parents or whoever you live with make. The moms program helped with Medicaid and WIC.
Good luck.
PS. Ask your OB they know a lot about this stuff and can even help you apply.

Are you sure it doesn't cover pregnancy? Ask your Dad if he can change insurance if he can't I believe even though you are under 18 but being pregnant I think you can get imancipated and get your own medicaid.

You would have to also have your dad write a letter stating that you live with him but you buy and prepare your food separately. Hope this helps!! Good Luck!

I am taking care of my mother who is almost 94 and has dementia, i wanted to find out if she can qualify for medicaid? She has her medicare and social security right now. If it gets to where i can't take care of her anymore and needs to be put into a skilled facility i believe her social security won't be enough.

Sicne you are over 18, just pay your dad rent. Then when you make your application, you are his tenant and not his daughter for those purposes. OOPS I thought it said OVER 19. SO my answer really depends on if you are 18 or not.
