whose throat? whose heart? is this poetry attempting to be philosophical? don't even try it. people will see through that very easily and turn away.
ok. i like this poem (do i love it? i am not telling). it's the shortest i've read in my life. a lot of poets will laugh at this, and they may be right. it's too short, so we don't really know what the persona is trying to say. but therein lies the beauty of the poem. the persona lets us glimpse, but that is all. i like this poem. very intriguing. but remember: poetry, literature, art, is meant to entertain as well as instruct. has this poem entertained me? yes, and i won't tell why. has it instructed me, shown me life in slow motion, in great detail, close up and personal. i won't tell. and that may not be a bad thing either.
one thing, though: don't ever use a title as a crutch to prop up the whole poem. think of another title, one as short as the poem, if you can. that's two good poems. don't get cocky.

I don't know what causes that lump for others, but I suspect the one I occasionally get is caused by all of the things I've been too chickens*** to say for the last 15 years. Just a little verbal constipation caused by insufficient bravery.

It can stem from any emotion -- anxiety, fear, disappointment, cold feet, heartache, nervousness, devastation, etc. Physically speaking, our heart is stationary, it can't move throughout the body, but it can trigger the above emotions to release endorphins, stressors, chemicals, to inflame certain regions that cause the burning lump sensation in the throat. You needn't worry, I am sure there is no frog in your throat, just the prince who put the spell there!

You're having a tight feeling in your throat because of a strong emotion such as sorrow or gratitude. But I hope you won't let emotion enslave you far too long. There are enough joys waiting to be grateful for.

I think your trying to force a poetic question on the wrong crowd. And the answer would be an overwhelming feeling of emotion. So depending on the emotion, yes it could be your heart.

I agree with Jimboy; as it;s the emotion that gets up there; and then it goes to the heart ; and sometimes it feels like it;s hard to breath,At least for me anyway..

Nope, that's swelling in your throat and a narrowing of the airway.
If your heart gets up there, the clinical term is "death."
