The sox are definantly going to try for sanatana their young pitching would be a great trade with the twins, i believe that the fact that the sox are unwilling to sign aging talent to longterm deals is an indication that they are waiting to get ahold of yohan.

Stop whining about young talent. Johan is a top 3 pitcher in Baseball, and he is not even 28 yet. He will be in his prime for 4-5 more years. You don't have any idea where Bucholz or Lester will be. If you can get him, I would do it, but they probably will want Elsbury or Padroia (sp?).
Think about your rotation... Beckett, Santana, Dice-K, Schilling... and it doesn't matter who else.
If the Sox can get him they should because they would have the supreme upper hand on the Yankees.

If Johan Santana does go to the Red Sox, the deal would have to include Jacoby Ellsbury or Dustin Pedroia. The Twins want young talent in return not Coco Crisp.

I'm a huge Sox fan and I would love to see him here, regardless of who we give up. I think it will take 2 of these 3 with Coco Crisp:
Ellsbury
Buckholz
Lester
Personally, I'd say goodbye to Lester & Buckholz. This would also be contingent on them agreeing to extend him for 4-5 years at 20-23 Mil / year.

Santana will not become a free agent until after the 2008 season and the Twins would like to trade him before it goes to arbitration. The Twins will obviously want something substantial in return for him and they could hold of trading him until late in the 2008 season when a contender might make a good offer to the Twins involving solid young prospects. It could turn out to be the Red Sox or any one of several other teams.

No the Twins are looking to deal him for a ton of young players. I am willing to be that the Twins would want one if not both of the Bosox's young players including the young stars of last year. I dont think they want to deal Clay he has a lot of promise and upside remember his No-Hitter last year. If I was running the Bosox I would look at 2 main transactions that would be either trade for Miguel Cabrara from Florida or sign Lowell. but I would focus on Lowell since the Yanks want him to play 1st base.

The twins (generally) never get the raw end of a deal.
So, typically the price is two cheap, young players and although Crisp doesn't make much money, they look for years under control.
I think their price would be something more like Ellsbury and one of Lester/Buchholz
Probably best to wait a year and get him in free agency unless they felt whomever trades for him would ensure they sign him long term.
How bad do you think they need a $20 mil pitcher?

You wanna give Clay away already? The guy just started. Either way, I'm just worried about how it's looking more and more like Lowell is headed out. It's too bad- since he's a free agent, it's not like Boston gets a good trade or anything for him.
