Which one depends on you and i don't really know enough about the X yet.
Like any car it would be best to try them both and See which one feels best to you.You may really love or hate one against the other.
Unless i have taken them both for a run but even then it would be a personal opinion from me.

Spec wise they both great and still advanced being older .Hold back if you have trouble sourcing a decent one out they
will always be an enthusiast whom has looked after there's.

So advice would be to take both out and see which you alone like.

From what I've read on the X, it is the all around better car. It is more refined and comfortable yet it delivers the same performance due to extra weight on top of extra power. Hyundai engine? I doubt it since Hyundai tends to use Mitsubishi engines in their cars.

Critics say that the car doesn't feel as raw as the old one but it will perform as good- if not better than the 9. I used to own an 8. Great car for the track but a car needs to have more qualities than going fast and looking cool. Then again, what should I have expected from a race car with a license plate?

Hopefully, the X will be more streetable without losing the IX's edge. Also, being tunable? We will see tuned versions at SEMA next year. If there are problems, I'm sure with a little R&D, they will be rectified right away. Hey, if they did that with the Integra GSR, the Evo X shouldn't be a problem.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Evo X. It's a brand-new platform, brand-new engine and AUTOMATIC transmission. Automatic + lots of power + Mitsubishi = very high repair cost. Killing a clutch costs much less than cooking a slushbox (Automatic transmission).

Since the Evo X is brand new, it'll be the first time out, which means BUGS, lots of them. I'd reccomend going for an earlier model Evo. They weigh less, which means it'll jump off the line quicker, and things like tires/clutch will last longer. With my friend's brand-new Evo 8, the clutch went out at 6,000 miles and wasn't covered by the warranty. Plus, Mitsubishi HATES to do warranty work.

The 4G63 engine has been around for close to 20 years and is built like a tank. Sure, it's heavier (iron block), but it can take a LOT more abuse (and higher boost pressure) than the new 4B11 all-aluminum engine in the Evo X

The Evo X has gained some more wieght then the 9. With that added weight and more power, I doubt it is any more quicker then the evo 9, as for handling, sources has mentioned that the evo X has lost it's rally inspired feel, the evo 9 should handle better. The evo X seemed to have been designed to appeal more the futuristic aesthetics then the previous evo's more "bare neccesity" performance oriented theme.

Evo X looks AMAZING inside, and infact it has more hp than the 9 Mr. I personally prefer the evo 9, evo X doesn't have evo's 7-9 shape and infact that new shape is ugly. Search up and you will be able to find a good Evo 9 Mr. Check this out, evo X can be really hot with this kits:

Would still prefer evo 9 with Apr kits though!
Good luck, hope I helped!

look this is easy to answer I drive a 03 evo 8 its yellow :) personally i would go with the evo9 mr because ITS an evo..the X is stupid looking and they murdered what a evo should look like. Plus if you plan on modding it you will have to wait a bit for performance parts to come out. Plus evo8-9 are sexy X = bad.....thats just my 2 cents from an evo driver to a future evo driver.

Get the Evo 9. I'm with you on the body style, though it may have more power, but I doubt it would handle as well as the 9 or the MR.

evo 9 all the way. Its the best performing of the bunch plus the aftermarket parts that are available are endless. you are gonna have to wait a while for aftermarket products for the evo X

^^ Ditto.

Though, I'm like you, I'm no fan of the styling of the Evo X. I would get the Evo IX hands down.

But then, I wouldn't be getting an Evo to begin with =)

Evolution X. Its interior is much better, with more power. It also handles well with the S-AYC (super all wheel control),ACD and AYC.It has gained an extra 100kg but it will definitely be faster. I agree with you that it lacks the looks of the Evolution 9 MR,but I think that the Evolution X will evolve in the next evolution which will make it look nicer. I think that that it is all up to you to choose which Evolution suits you better.
