try going for a walk and taking nice warm baths and showers. Its OK to take a couple of paracetamol to help ease the pain - but I found they did no good!
There is not a lot you can really do! I understand totally how you are feeling! My contractions went on like this for 35hours! If your partner is there maybe get him to rub your back and shoulders to help relax you.
Hopefully your contractions will get closer together soon! When mine were every 3min's apart that is when I went to the hospital and I was 10cm - so they broke my waters and my daughter was born an hour or so later. but if your waters break you have to go to the hospital immediately!
Good luck, your nearly there!

This sounds like my last pregnancy so I know how you feel. Basically I was having regular painful contractions on and off for 2 days yet when I went in to be checked I was only 2 cm dilated and not in active labor.

I tried everything - walking and eating spicy foods and taking warm baths and no progress. So finally my midwife just told me GET SOME REST. She said obviously I was going to go into labor very soon and that would happen by itself so the best thing to do was rest.

She was right! That night I invited my family over to watch a movie with us. I relaxed on the couch, had some hot tea and went to bed early. Got a pretty good night's sleep and then next morning my water broke at 4 a.m.

So I guess my advice is, you are probably just a day or two away from labor so sleep and rest now if you can!

As for the pain, there's not much you can do because what you are experiencing is very early contractions. Besides massage, hot and cold pressure and a bath, there's not much more in the way of relief.

it's time for you to go to the hospital now. When your pain is enough so that you can't sleep through it, it's TIME!!

I labored up to 5 cm on my own with my first because I didn't know when I should go to the hospital. I was in a lot of pain and had to really concentrate to get through the contractions.

So, based on the pain you've just described, you were at the stage I was at that time... so GO!! Pack your bags if you haven't already and let the hospital / doctor know you're coming.

You could be actively dilating...maybe you should make a bigger deal about it and go to the labor and delivery dept and just get checked.

Some women dont ever have true Labor feelings....and it sounds like you are having enough problems.

Go in today and make a big fuss about it...maybe you are further than you think.

Good luck

Your uterus may be contracting because you're dehydrated. Try drinking lots of water besides juice and stay away from caffeine. I was contracting 3-4min apart for 6 hours, kept drinking water and they went away. Hope this helps.

i think if the pain is keeping you awake and the contractions are 5-10 minutes apart then you should go to the hospital now. it couldnt hurt.

Sometimes they dont get closer than that, but most often they do. Sometimes they dont get very strong, but usually they do. Have yours done either since yesterday? Mine have gone away again WAHHHH You can always ask to be checked again, if you're makign any progress it may be the real thing :)

Enjoy your last moments alone!!!

In a few days you'll have your baby in your arms...until then try to relax, have a bath or do some breathing exercises...
