FEMA faked a press conference a few weeks ago but, on the whole, I doubt that news is faked. What could be different, though, is a person's perspective on the news which they convey to the public.

Here is my take on it. Sometime during the Clinton administration (I am not implying it was directly attributable to Clinton but his was the first to experience it) something changed radically in America. There was a subtle but very important paradigm shift in news reporting.

Before, every once in a while, someone would conduct a poll and occasionally it's results would be newsworthy. However, the shift began as News Reporting Agencies began to conduct their own polls and report the results as news. The significant difference is that originally the poll was run and sometimes resulted in news. Now, a poll is conducted to create news.

It is to the point now where most of what gets reported as political news is related to opinion polls conducted specifically to create news. This is nuts! News reporters are supposed to simply observe and report on events that happen or investigate existing stories. Now they are creating news. Add to this the fact that by cleverly wording questions and selecting specific groups to ask, one can get whatever poll results one desires. The result? FAKE NEWS!

There is news that is not 'news' as everyone already know it, so should be called 'olds'.
Or there is exaggeration and lies.
Lies should not be considered 'fake news', especially if the lies have been spread before; there should be 'old lies'.

I don't really understand the rise of your question, but it has spawned some interesting thoughts in my head!

All news is essentially fake. As what we consider news is only culturally specific. For example, people in other parts of the world may not care about Posh Spice. but we in London, seemed to. So we could say ' news to who'......

It's all fake.

I am a liberal, but Glenn Beck is pretty interesting. He complains about CNN, all the time, who he works for, saying the stories never come close to resembling the truth after editing.

Sure you see it everyday. That is what the news media is famous for, slanting the facts, and tell you only what they want you to know.
