I agree with AWAL. I despise the greed and materialism that is Xmas. To me, the worship/celebration services at church are my favorite parts. I do give out gifts, but they're meaningful. While it will be my daughter's first Christmas as well, it will mean more the family than to her. My MIL is getting her the Hallmark ornament (I hope it's one of the nicer ones; We have very different opinions of what is "nice"), so that is out of the question. However, we'll find something for her that she'll appreciate when she's older, not just some games and toys that she'll outgrow in a few months, only to be packed away for her future sibling(s).
I'm not sure what we'll do except spend another Christmas (I've not spent Christmas with my family since I married six years ago) with the in-laws. Yay.

My baby will be turning 5 months this Christmas and we've decided to get her a few little toys like rattles and wrap them for her stocking, a nice Christmas outfit for the family things and that's it. I made a list for the rest of the family who needed ideas on gifts to get her that has a few bigger things on it, like a walker and a doorway bouncer.
Depending on how large your family is (aunts, uncles, grandparents...) you shouldn't have to do much. We're blessed with a ginormous family and she's the first grandchild and girl since 89...so she's gunna be taken care of. : )
Just make sure you take lots of pictures and cherish the moment!!

i am excited as well. My son will be 6 months old on Christmas. He is pretty young, so I am getting him toys that light up and make noise. I think that one big gift is best for your daughter. She will be 9 monhts old. I remember my daughter was year old and wasn't into opening the gifts, just playing with them. SHe had a whole stocking full and took one out and was distracted by it and played with that toy. When she was done, she took another thing out and played with that toy for awhile... it took forever.. she wasn't into opening tons of things, just playing with the new thing

Well, only you know her best. At this age, she is going enjoy the crinkling noise of the paper - she may not be able to open them herself yet and she will probably try to eat the paper. My advise is don't spend a ton of money just she has lots to open. She won't know the difference. You can even get her some things that you have been meaning to buy but haven't like decorations for her room or whatever. But, all in all, I would just get her a few things, either big or small and not worry too much about it. Just enjoy your bundle :)

My son was three months last xmas so we decided on one big present that made alot of noise or lights (tmx elmo..lol) and clothes for the rest. maybe if she drinks from sippy cups or need hair ties. as per activities go you couldjust stick with whatever it is that you and your family does, she may just enjoy the extra company or the lights on the tree. im sure youll figure out something and it will be a great xmas for her.

Well, she's only 7 months old, to be truthful, and she's um not going to remember much.
Not to say not to make it special, but don't go overboard with the presents or activities for her, she won't remember much anyway.
But I have to agree with one of the posters above, don't forget to include in Christmas celebrations the true meaning of Christmas, which is the celebration of the birth of Christ.

Congratulations on your baby. Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birth, so I hope your activities include honoring him. THIS is the most important thing. As for presents, she won't remember this day, but you will so do things that are special to you. Perhaps getting her toys that you had as a child. Many of the classic toys are still out there or are makeing a come back.. Take lots of pictures, and start a scrapbook. Enjoy your time together as a family.

she will enjoys the lights so take her out for lots of evening walks to enjoy it. as far as presents, she won't know the difference. we got our babies a little toy when they were too young to know the difference and put some cash away in a savings account for them........ thinking they would appreciate that later in life much more later on.

just give small gifts, she will never remember her first christmas, and before you know it she will want a ton of expensive things, go small as long as you can! I am a mother of four and when they are little you can make christmas very special without spending alot of money.
