I grew up in West Virginia, listening to Reds games on the radio. Joe Nuxhall was one of the best in the business.

Radio is a fading art form. Very sad day.

The youngest pitcher to pitch in a MLB game in the 20th century at 15 years 11 months when he pitched and inning against the Cardinals in 1944. He went to the minors for 7 years and came to stay in 1952. He had a great knuckleball but was even a better guy. I remember seeing him pitch late in his career and what I remember most was him coming out of the dugout an hour before the game to sign autographs for the kids. He will be missed.

As Joe would say after the post game show on the radio..."This is the ole left hander rounding third and heading for home". Good bye Joe, you are missed by me and many others.

I am not a Reds fan, but it is sad to see Nuxhall pass away. From what I know, he was a great radio announcer, and shouldn't be forgotten by Reds fans or baseball fans. R.I.P. Nuxhall.

Yes, baseball will never be the same. Joe Nuxhall is baseball.

For a guy who couldn't easily solve his drunkenness and who left long pauses for the listener to wonder if he was still at the mike, I don't see a whole lot to miss. Of course, despite Joe Nuxhall's slow and boring delivery, it is an improvement on the all-knowing, omnipotent Marty Brennaman and his similarly evil son, Tom.

yes, he was an amazing guy, and his record willl NEVER be broken. it just won't happen in modern baseball.

what a shame the guy was a heavy smoker. I hope announcers like Jerry Remy learn something from this.
