Since the team made India propud by winning the world cup, there was nothing wrong in the reception given to them. However, considering the treatment given toi other sports wwwhich also bring recognition to the country, the gifts given to the players were defenitely over dose.

That depends on which side you support.
If we consider the fact that It was India's first World Cup after their 1983 victory, this was expected. Indian's have a flair for celebrations.
Besides, BCCI had to make a point to their new rivals ICL that they not only have world champions, but also support from the cricket fans.

Over the top!Why treat them like heroes?there not heroes they are doing what they are paid to do.You don't see Australia with all these fancy parties.They just say yeh we did good now we want to win another series.It went to Indias head they aren't even the best 20/20 team!
