I don't really think that's the case even though it might seem that way. Of course, omar is more comfortable with Latin players but given the opportunity to sign a big free agent who will help the mets, I don't think race would really matter. I believe he did sign Billy Wagner a few years back and also was the one who traded for lo duca. He also traded for john maine and refused to trade lastings milledge and/or aaron heilman to the A's for zito 2 years ago. I guess minaya does use his roots to reach out to latin players but I don't think he only wants latin players. he wants to put the best team together to win a world series. I believe he let lo duca go due to the mets needing a better defense catcher and probably money issues. keep in fact that he also signed Willie randolph, an African-american, to manage the mets.

i think of he's irritating approximately his very own team. For one element, his pitchers nevertheless could desire to stand Werth 18 video games a 365 days. he's probable aggravated approximately that. yet greater importantly, what one team does impacts all 29 different communities. Now that the Nats have given a daft quantity of money to Werth, the subsequent unfastened agent outfielder is going to call for comparable funds, and the subsequent guy will too. And on and on. each time a team overpays for a experienced participant, it merely instruments the bar greater and better for all the different communities.

There has been a long tradition of Italian ballplayers playing for NYC ballclubs -Pepitone,Berra ,Cerrone etc.It would be nice if Minaya(sp?) would continue that tradition w /.the Mets

i have noticed that too!!!
nothing wrong with that, but if an organization had 24 out of 25 players that were white on the roster, that would be deemed as racism and they'd have to answer questions about that.
then again, there are simply a lot of latin players around baseball.

He has once admitted that he wants a bigger fan base from other countries in the Caribbean. But not all his best players are Latin. Wright and Glavine weren't latin.

That I would ask my Hairy Greek Grand son,
he makes us all laugh He is a 6 footer with a 13' foot
and he shaves every hair on his Body Bald
CAUSE : he says there is no hair on a play Ground !!
Well goes to show he got the right idea,
but lets not cause any FRICTION CHILD
leave it to the best whom know to play on those play GROUNDS our GRATIFICATION is THE score
and their job the idea of WINNING !!

Rest assured that they want solid players that can help them win a championship. Nationality would not even be an issue.

He is like that. He's been doing it ever since he came to NY. It's working but really, it's sort of racist. He should sign them because of skill not race.
