This year for Christmas I won't be sending Christmas cards (except to close friends & family, so just a small handful).I'll email others to wish them Season's Greetings. Also, I haven't bought lots of things for the kids, I'm giving them money.Saves on lots of wrapping paper and packaging, and they can buy what they REALLY want. The things I have bought have been mostly online, so no wasting petrol to get to the shops. And hubby and I aren't buying for each other, instead we have bought stuff we really need for the home. And, we are taking my in-laws out for a meal instead of buying them stuff they don't want or need. Are you having a green Christmas?

Lazy Ian? No, but I am ill actually.Writing cards is painful as I have a condition called lymphodema in my arm.And it's also not possible for me to carry heavy shopping.I have to avoid crowds too as my imune system is poor.

Whenever possible, I just wrap my gifts in pretty gift boxes and skip the wrapping paper -- definitely a waste. Also, no more bows (my cats eat them anyway).

I also stopped with the Christmas cards. I send online greetings instead.

I have definitely cut back on the gift giving -- too expensive for one thing.

My hubby and I just fill our stockings for each other with little things.

I buy a lot more gift cards now -- much easier and more appreciated.

Christmas has become way too commercialized as it is. It isn't about gift giving. It is about spending time with family and friends -- they are our real gifts.

This Christmas, I will continue to buy gifts and send cards. Although I will stay with in a budget (No credit cards..which probably saves trees, as I won't be getting a bill in the mail; The postman will not have to deliver it, I won't have to buy stamps etc etc :) Not to mention the stress it will save me..) I feel it is important to continue to do the little things (Like send out cards) because it reminds people you are thinking of them and the people who may need reminded the most are the ones without email...as it can be a lonely time of year for some.

Wow! Good for you. The holidays should be about family and thinking of other people first. You seem to have the right idea.

I am having a greener Christmas - no christmas tree, no outdoor lights, going somewhere warm and green.

My mum is always 'green' at christmas, I've got the same card for about 10 years! We always give the stuff to charity that don't want, and take our cards to be recycled at the supermarket.

Good on you, attitudes have got to change even if its just one person at a time :)

Lord knows I am. This year I'm only going to use TWO cans of that silver aerosol tree spray, and I swear I won't light the tree on fire to save having to go to the town dump. I'll just toss it in my neighbor's yard along with all the packing from all the toys. They have a compost heap you see... Styrofoam is biodegradable right?

ya know, IT IS the holiday season. Can we at least go all out once a year? Why do we have to be so uptight that we cant really enjoy the holidays? From going green to being politically correct.....no fun....
