Lincolnpark. It's up on the North side of Chicago. It's a trendy hip area, but it's mostly condos. If you want an up and coming area, then go to South Loop, ie Museum Park. If you're looking at going to the suburbs of Chicago, then you have plenty of options from Naperville (Southwest Side) to Schaumburg (Northwest Side). Both have access to Metra (Public Rail System). The first poster is correct. In addition, don't overlook the Hyde Park neighborhood, which is similar to Lincoln Park, but is south of the Loop instead of north. Also has good access to the Metra, and is an area of mixed cultures with a goodly supply of nicely rehabbed condo's. Just happens to be the neighborhood in which Barack Obama and family reside.

Naperville is a great area, voted #1 kid-friendly city in the Chicago Land area. You can find just about everything that you want in Naperville!
