If it has the paper photograph finish glued to the press board, then the only option is to paint it.
If you have the type of press board that has a thin veneer of plywood glued to it, you can bleach and re-stain it with any wood stain.
Just use a spray bottle to mist bleach on the veneer. Then sand to smooth the veneer and then stain.

Morning,
I'm going with answer two; in part, and have two cents to add.
15 years ago even GLIT furniture was better than it is today. the suggestions about painting over the contact paper veneer, or a wood veneer (which is way unlikely) will work fine. There is an alternate however that paint would not work over...Formica.
KILZ and/or Zinzer make an oil based primer, that can be latexed over, after it dries.

marwood - theres is NO such thing as "non toxic" epoxy paint - (background in both science, arts, arts chemistry including plastics which epoxy is a form of and aquariums - 50 years). That is is used is because people think "it's safe". Eventually it does "cure" but they never stop... within a well filtered aquarium - any affects by then will be minimal if any at all.

It can be salvaged but with some effort. If the wood is in pretty good shape there is a vinyl adhesive like a wallpaper with wood grain design that can be applied or try a light sanding and a good sealer & stain.

You can prime it and then paint it. There is a type of spray paint at Home Depot that leaves a stone-like finish if you like that sort of thing.

those press-board pieces rarely make it 15 years. you should consider yourself lucky. it is possible to re-do it and you have several good examples on that already, however my suggestion would be to get a new one more to your liking. trust me they don't cost that much and yours is going to take alot more work than it's worth. you already got your moneys worth out of it, put it out to pasture

Re-finishing is really not an option, as it has a veneer coating which is glued to the particle board.
