If you take your car to a local garage and ask them to check
the anti-freeze percentage,its a five minute job.
then he will tell you approximately how much you need to put in,there's a good chance if the system has not been drained
in the past it may not need very much to bring it to the correct percentage level. Minimum cover is 25% Maximum cover is 50%.
A good tip for the future, if you get 1LT of anti-freeze and mix it with 1 LT of water next time you top up you will always put in the correct amount.
foot note
always best to keep anti-freeze in summer and winter because anti-freeze has a corrosion inhibitor in to stop aluminumum parts of the engine corroding, also if to much
anti-freeze is in the coolent, over 50% it may start to make small leaks or seapages from hoses etc.
Hope this may be of some help.

Ok you need to ensure that the mix is correct so that the car has the proper heating and cooling ability in the winter and summer.
In general the antifreeze is supose to me mixed 50/50 water/antifreeze. If you are unsure about this then I recommend that you stop by any auto parts store and for about 6 bucks yout can pick up and antifreeze tester, works like a turkey baster and it will tell you if you have the proper mix of coolant and water...
Good luck !!!

there is extra to antifreeze than freezing. If that the place the case why do human beings in heat places use it. incredibly antifreeze/coolant is used to maintain it cooler and warmer. It prevents the water from freezing and additionally will improve the boiling factor of the water. the respond on your question is this. sure you could run at once water. that is no longer cautioned and can lean to larger problems. the appropriate answer is to purchase 50/50. it is premix and consequently you don’t could purchase distilled water and antifreeze and combine them your self. Distilled water is used simply by fact faucet water includes lime and different contaminants which will block the radiator and reason significant maintenance later.

You can buy an anti-freeze tester at Wal-mart. Chances are it all ready has enough in less its be leaking. If it has none you WILL Defiantly need to drain at least 1/2 the water out and fill the rest with straight anti-frezz so you end up with apx 1/2 and 1/2 mixture. That should be good for 10 below zero.

If your just topping up then put a high concentration of antifreeze in your top up tank , you could use neat antifreeze with out any problems,
you should change your coolant completely every 2-3 years, it should be quite easy, buy a Haynes (Halfords sell them) manual it will tell you how to do it and show pictures.

You can fill up with anti freeze yes as long as you have a good mix . I normally empty the system then fill to the right mix then use antifreeze to top up.

You'll put the antifreeze in you car's radiator as you put the water, but you have to put more antifreeze than water to avoid the water's freezing.

you need to have the proper water / antifreeze mix or you can cause the engine componets too break down if the mix is too great
