Well, as TV is a significant component of American culture, the pupils will have seen a lot of shooting. Being restricted in their environment, they will start shooting in school. Natural, isn't it.
Add to that the availability of guns and the scene is set.

No it's all about lack of respect and bulling others.
No one seems to look at the problem realistically.
Until parents straighten up their act and schools do their part in learning the art of hiring good teachers that respect all students equally and have higher expectations of working with the problems instead of turning a deaf ear, the problem will just get worse.
