I drown my crumpet with butter, I make sure each individual hole of the crumpet has absorbed some butter, then I spread a thin layer of Marmite, and dig in! I haven't eaten a crumpet in a long time! Thanks for reminding me of them! I am going to pop down to the shops right now to buy a packet!

butter and raspberry jam or cream or cream cheese or peanut butter/jelly...i put on anything that's available in my fridge at the time the crumpets are served...plain and simple
