Is it possible that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will have an equal number of supporters for the 2008 election, so a Republican would get into office?

Like- if it comes down to ONE major republican candidate, and TWO major democrats for the final ballot??

How does that work exactly??

NO, the Democratic party will only nominate 1 candidate for the election.

The democrats will nominate one candidate only ... usually the others will bow out of the race long before the end, so the eventual candidate can gain momentum heading into the election.

However when there is a thrird party candidate that person usually will take votes away from the democratic candidate......like Ralph Nader did from Gore in 2001.

It doesn't work that way. Only one candidate will receive the nomination from their respective parties to run for president.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama could possibly wind up running as a president and vice president team That has happened often in US history.

Each party will nominate only one candidate. The only way both Clinton and Obama would both appear on the ballot would be if the one not running under the Democrat party were to split and form a "third party." That is very unlikely to happen since both are such party hacks.
