This is what happened. During WWI, the germans were on the "wrong" side, and lost. During which time, a large Jewish population in Germany made oodles of money off of the war effort. When Germany lost, aside from having to pay extremely high reparations, but their country was destroyed. Therefore, the economy was in the craps, and the monarchy had been run out of the country, leaving it leaderless. In poverty and desolation comes this man, a leader of a socialist movement called the Nazis, and rises to the position of supreme chancellor within just a few years. In response to the pain of the German people, he points out that the Jews are sitting fat and rich on top of a pile of money, meanwhile Germans are starving in the streets with no homes. He organizes the military, starts spreading propaganda, and everyone is looking for a scapegoat and finds the Jews responsible, thus ultimately beginning the Holocaust. After that, he pretty much has the support and control of the German government that he needs, and decides to begin a campaign to begin a new European empire. The rest, as they say, is history. Notice how quickly they did the things he asked them to, just because they were in the middle of a crisis. Just another reason why we should be wary of repeating history.

With all due respect, there is no possible way you could ever know the extent of evil, destruction and havoc wreaked upon the Jews, the Germans and the world by Adolf Hitler. Be very careful making a sweeping statement like that. In response to positives - which are of course early in his administration - restoring infrastructure, building the Autobahn, developing a durable and highly economic car (Volkswagen), are things that stand out. One can also easily see how they were a means to a militaristic end in Hitler's mind. Putting people to work is good in general - doing so in a factory building tanks, when your nation's WWI treaty prevents you from doing so, is not.

Basically, whats happening now in America.
Currently its a rally about squashing dissent. The use of using terrorist as the common enemy is because it gets people to identify abnormal behavior and report it. Dissent is abnormal to the rest of the populace. If all dissent were suppressed to the point of almost total eradication, then we have a society similar to the societal behavior of ants.
Ultimately the goal is for the rich to live of a life of unhindered luxury, while all the poor little worker ants slave day and night just to meet their maker.
This difference between now and then is that America is completely divided. What would unite America? If a foreign country actually physically attacked us on our soil, not terrorists.
People already think the U.S. is in the shitter now with the crazy laws that have been passed, the collapsing economy, etc.. That will be candy land when compared the major changes that will take place within a couple years.

He found the people after the defeat of WW1 and the humiliating treaty of Verseilles and he took advantage of the
weekness of the Veimar republic and promised people to restore their national pride and nullify the effects of the treaty
which,as he said,"was imposed with a gun in the head of a hungry nation"...in other words the national socialists played solely on the "national" part of national socialism and discarded the socialist part and,of course he had Dr Josef Goebels to persuade the people with his propaganda department and Herman Goring and his squads of hooligans to eliminate oposition by any means...;when in 1935 he declared the rearmament of Germany, every German had a job in the war industry working 15 hours a day to meet the war production aims and receiving half salary...that is as far as Hitler's socialism went.

Many Germans already believed they were genetically superior before Hitler came along, and many hated Jews and thought they were a threat to German society. Hitler, like any good manipulator saw what was already inside the psyche of the people and played to it with his speeches and his agenda. He told Germans they were the master race, that they had the right to rule the world. That certainly gave them something to look forward to!
Hitler was sounding his anti-Semitic themes as early as 1922:
"The Aryan [light skinned German] regards work as the foundation for the maintenance of the community of people amongst it members. The Jew regards work as the means to the exploitation of other peoples. The Jew never works as a productive creator without the great aim of becoming the master. He works unproductively using and enjoying other people's work. . . .t it is beside the point whether the individual Jew is 'decent' or not. In himself he carries those characteristics which Nature has given him, and he cannot ever rid himself of those characteristics. And to us he is harmful.
Twenty three years later, after he had lost the war, he again blamed the Jews:
"It is untrue that I or anybody else in Germany wanted war in 1939. It was desired and instigated exclusively by those international statesmen who were either of Jewish origin or working for Jewish interests. "

You might want to look around a little on that site. The speeches are long, but if you search for a key word in one of them such as Jews, or Ayran, you'll find a lot of Hitler's key thoughts in just a few minutes. Good luck. I really don't understand the extreme degree of fascism and race hate that drove the Germans. I think I would have had to live in Germany then in order to understand it.

He promised to restore Germany to it's proper place in the world and erase the humiliation they suffered after WWI. He played on their fear of Communist take over like had happened in Russia only a few yeas before. He blamed Germany's problems on the Jews and stoked antisemitism and assured them that "Aryans" were a superior race. He institutes massive government programs both social welfare and a military build up which promoted Germany's early recovery from the world wide depression.

Germans that fought in the war felt their nation was under threat of attack from outside German's borders. Germany used the people of Jewish descent the way the Republicans use the "liberal threat", that is, that a force within Germany wished to erode the "German way of life".

Hitler brainwashed them.
It's all in obedience.
I would suggest reading an article called the "The Third Wave" or watching an experiment done by a dude named Milgram.
Both have to do with why the Germans conformed to his rule.
And it's not 'cause they're evil. Definetly not.
