Has anyone else noticed some people seem to hang out here to blow others candles out to try to make theirs appear brighter?
Example, I work as a photographer, I am very average, I have strong technique from years of schooling but lack in the artistic side of it, I'm the first to admit that. - I do architecture mostly.
So I post a question like "do you like the view" I link to this image:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/martini2005/2033258804/
i say this is a snapshot,
Then I get people answering saying those pictures are average or they are snap shots, or just abusing me generally.
I just told them they are snap shots - but they think they should point it out.
So what is it all about?
Are they insecure?
Are they stupid?
Are they jealous?
Please if you know can you explain. I'm aware many are young here and many are just stupid.
Many thanks.

It's called levelling.
They feel inferior to you Antoni, and they can not raise themselves to your level. Therefore they try to lower you to their level.
It says a lot about them and despite what you may think, it also says a lot about you and some of the others on here. You are a threat, above the norm. As long as you are those things, you will have inferiorly talented people trying to cut your legs out from under you.
Please don't give them credibility by allowing yourself to be upset about it. Take it as a compliment mon ami, and smile.
The further you progress in your field, the more you realise that it is the mediocrity that are the difficult people. The high achievers are usually warm responsive and very giving people. I still get attacked regularly, usually by other artists I know that aren't selling. Yes the pain is there, but I now recognise it for what it is.. part and parcel of success my friend.

Probably all of the three above plus some could also be underage or just teenagers wasting their time on the net, having nothing else to do. I have placed several questions which at least for me remain unresolved due to the lack of professional opinion. There should be some age restrictions as to who will actually be allowed to answer certain questions posted that might need a specialist's reply and NOT a child's suggestion.
You might as well put your thumbs down and vote 1000 times for my answer, like I care. Cause that's what it's all about here isn't it??
Vre paidi mou evare8ika, go figure why people act the way they do.

The percentage of brain dead or immature people participating on this site is very high. So take nothing very personally.
One of my pet peeves is people who give a "thumbs down" for no good reason at all to a very simple answer. For instance, the other day someone asked for the best song titles consisting of one girl's name. (Example: "Michelle" by the Beatles.) As long as your answer fit the category, why should anyone give a thumbs down? But lots of people gave thumbs down to any songs they themselves didn't like. Now one guy did say that there were NO good songs of this sort, and he earned a thumbs down from almost everyone.
Another pet peeve is people who ask a question such as "What is the scariest movie ever made and why?" Well, you make the mistake of giving a decent answer with a few sentences of explanation, BUT . . . The questioner picks the best answer not on the basis of the best explanation, but because the questioner liked that movie, too. Why didn't he/she just ask more honestly, "Try to guess what my favorite scary movie is?" I would have no interest in the question or the answers and would know not to waste my time.

Antoni, there is not a simple answer to your question. That is not very satisfying, but it's true.
I thought about putting on my psychologist's hat to answer you, but in the end, if I could provide you with complete understanding, it wouldn't change how you emotionally respond.
How you respond is the most important thing because it's the only thing you can change. To do that, you need to know more than just what you feel. You need to know what triggers it. From there, you can choose to be triggered, or not, or how much you want to be triggered.
It's a very good talent to develope when, as an artist, you put something of yourself out there on display.
When our work is critiqued, criticised, complimented, praised, or ignored it can feel personal. Very personal and that's when it's done well.
Being able to step back from that personal relationship with what we do let's us look to see if there is anything of value in what is said. If there isn't, then you can just walk on past if you choose. Choosing is a big thing, it's a form of power.
To sum it up clinically, of the set of all people, there is a subset of people called *******. This subset can be further divided into ingorant *******, stupid *******, young ******* just passing through A-holeness, cruel ******* and several other subsets. You can choose not to deal with the whole set of *******, choose some subsets to deal with, or decide to deal with all of them. Your choice.
Something should be mentioned about misclasification. These are those that we classify as *******, but it's just because we don't like what was said, or how it was said. When that happens, we get to be *******.

Talent envy, my man. Plain and simple. Some folks are jealous because you are a pro, and they want to be too. What they don't realize is how difficult it is to become a true professional, the time, dedication and training. I don't think anyone who enjoys photography hasn't thought about having a go of making a living with it. I did too at one time and despite my best efforts, I have had to remain the amateur, it's my hobby, my passion, and indeed brings in just about enough money to buy film with. It's ok by me though, I haven't the talent or the training. Frequent YA Photography regulars know what you are and where your coming from. Try not to let the others get under your skin !
Alas, we soldier on...

Antoni, a lot of those who answer on here either don't comprehend the question or don't read it completely. Then there are those who are just too stupid to know how to answer so they criticize.
Don't worry about it.
Your English is much better than most native born Americans. IMO "text messaging" is destroying intelligent writing.
You can always learn about the "artistic" side of photography if you want.

I know a lot of people just insult others as an easier way to get 2 points then actually answering, or giving in put on the question. I'm sure it's just a reflection of who they really are, and on the internet you can get away with things you can't in real life. Nice view by the way ;) And your English is excellent, seriously excellent =)

Most answerers do not read the whole question. They think they understand the question and want a quick 2 points so they answer thoughtlessly.
I am sorry your questions do not get answered they way you would hope but, you need to sort out the good and the bad and follow your instincts.
By the way, your English is very good.

first of all, I the two love Yahoo! solutions and Yahoo! 360 however they are 2 fairly some issues. What i admire approximately Y! solutions is which you get to help people worldwide on the failings that hassle them or they are merely involved in. maximum of all, you get to share your information to others which for me is a sizable deal. i myself do not use my Y! 360 account that lots yet i could say that that's efficient coz it enables me stay linked to the people i actually cherish the main like my acquaintances and kin..And it enables me to develop my creativity and use my complicated recommendations.. desire this solutions your question..

Antoni,
I appreciate your straight forward and honest communications. Your willingness to share your "snapshots" some of which are certainly much more than that. Don't worry about the silly answers you get - just sift them out.
BTW Your kung fu cheesy cat pic is one of my favourites - it's so different.
