I failed my 11 plus and lost my two best friends at a stroke because they passed and went to grammar school. It took me a long time to catch up! I studied successfully for a BA hons degree and graduated aged 38 years old. There was no stopping me then.... I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Management in my 40s and an MA aged 50 years. I guess my story tells you that it is never too late to learn?

I failed the eleven plus examination when I was fourteen years old, however before the arrogant and haughty ones amongst you scoff I am able to tell you that I now have a degree in both Dullology and Bullshine. Both were obtained you won't be surprised to learn at that famous and much mentioned institute the University of Life. amongst my fellow students were such notables as Barry Bullshine, Duncan Disorderly, Clifford the voice Jones ( an expert in the wild life) and Billy Nomates the founder member of the most unsuccessful dating agency on the Internet. Our reunions are a great success due to the fact that we are unable to arrange a joint venue, subsequently meeting on different dates( we do though usually get the year right) any fellow students who would like to get in touch should contact our social secretary who is none other than the most popular contribute to the senior citizens section of Y/A.

I didn't pass my Eleven Plus but I still managed an NVQ, A Levels and a degree. 11 is a bit young to have such an important test I think. My mind was too busy thinking about New Kids on the Block and dayglo socks in those days!

I took the 11 plus and passed but my parents wouldn't let me go to grammer school as the following year the schools were going comprehensive. I had to go to the local secondary school with all my friends. The following year when the schools merged I was removed from all my friends and put into all the top sets with the grammer school students, So I felt totally alone. As for the ology , I have one but have never really used it or the other 12 'O' levels I got.

My twin sister & I took the 11 Plus, she passed and I failed. She went to the Grammar school and I went to the Secondary Modern. It was actually nice as we both made our own group of friends instead of always hanging out together. Then a few years later we went comprehensive and I ended up at her school which was now a High school. I ended up with more qualifications than her when we did our O levels so go figure..

Yes I did and went to a Grammar School that had pretencions of being a Public School, complete with Houses and Flashman-style prefects.
Hated every minute of it and got expelled at 14 - which was the best thing that ever happened to me.
Saw a lot of the world in the University of Life and eventually came to have more academic qualifications than those that expelled me.

I am sorry about that, you must have really cared to still remember.
I did pass my eleven plus and at that point saw less of my friends in the surrounding area during the day but it did not affect us meeting up at other times. I have recently found two of them, one in a store in the city centre and one on Friends Reunited. I don't think you can match the friends you knew from childhood.

I passed the exam at eleven but I think it was called the common entrance exam in those days. I went to a Grammar school ten miles away and it seemed as if the Masters whole object in life was to humiliate and ridicule us when they weren't relating tales about themselves which we were supposed to be in awe of.One Master who name was Mr Bone was telling us that his wife had given birth to a daughter and asked for suggestions for a name, one lad suggested "Norah", it didn't go down too well.

I got in such a panic about my exams, I missed the 11+ by 3 points. I was offered the chance to sit again but my Parents decided I had suffered enough, so I have no qualifications.
I further disappointed my Parents because they wanted me to go into 'cookery' i.e college etc., but I became a telephone operator!
