My age is 79 and I'm male, out of interest I have just moved from Bromley in Kent. I now live in West Sussex. My health is good I think for my age and I have just had an MOT. In a monetary sense, its going quite well, having foreseen how a lack of cash could make retirement intolerable and taking steps to make certain I had a good pension. Moving from Bromley after seventy odd years was one of the best things I've done, it was a wonderful town and people. I now have lovely clean sea air, a glass of wine or the other when I want it.
Having enjoyed over twenty years of retirement, happily still with my wife, I think life is pretty good and I sincerely hope that yours catches up with me. Ex Bromley common

Just turning 51, female. Live back in the UK after 30 years of marriage and travelling abroad settling here and there for a few years and moving on. Now? .... Divorced... one 10 year old daughter living with me and keeping me on my toes, 2 older kids studying who are in dependant nice adults. Work part time because I chose to, smoke, have the odd bottle of wine with friends. Choose my friends, leave the washing up til morning if I want to...LOVE this stage of my life. LOVE the people I associate with, LOVE the fact that I'm not scared of anything, LOVE snuggling up to my daughter when she's sleeping, LOVE the fact that I can't see the wrinkles when I laugh (unless I put on specs) and LOVE the fact that my boyfriend has worse eyesight than me!!! All the graces of 'maturity'... its great. I feel like I have rowed upstream all those years and reached an island of tranquillity. I didn't like it when I hit the big 5 0 but I've embraced it now and am happier than I have ever been in my whole life.

53. Had a few years off when finances permitted. Planning on working 50 hours a week next year, then part time until 60. Own a house (or the building society does) in Cambridgeshire and another on the Danube. 2013 sell the house in UK, emigrate and retire. I don't smoke, but I drink more than is good for me.

Lousy. The hurricane Katrina ruined my life and my relationship. I am having to start over, because my ex never wanted me to work. The expenses have gone up about 30% and it takes two jobs to make ends meet. My daughter has moved away to another state with my grandchildren, and my son is jumping from job to job, and I barely hear from him.
Things could be a lot better. My health is okay right now, so I guess I am lucky. I have a toy boy so that helps, but sometimes feel I am raising another child. I am hoping things will improve soon!!

My ex is from Bromley, Kent!!! He's 62. What a BEAUTIFUL AREA you live in!!! I'm over 50 and loving life. I'm curious why you ask, though. Nice to see a question from your side of the pond, and it's especially cool that I know the area. :-) Cheers!

I have a cousin who's 73, his wife and him are the best friends and love life very much. Of course, health has some problems, but they keep each other happy, they can laugh at each other, so much that last time I saw them, there was that lady next table who got so upset at him for the jokes he was saying, she gave him hell, he turn around and ask her why she was unhappy? He's much older than me, but he's a bundle of fun as well as a good listener and feel good to be with. I wish you the same, sir, and good health. Take care!

Life is pretty good for me. I am the happiest man on the earth. I know how to be happy and share the happiness with others. If you give happiness to others it comes back to in like manner.
