The perversion of human rights by Islamic dictatorships in the name of their religious lies. I expect this legitimate question will probably be deleted.

The truth is unless their is a higher power it will never end. What a sad indictment of man's inability to find lasting solutions to the world's problems. Those problems seem even more tragic when you realize that the overwhelming majority of people described in that or others reports are defenseless women and children. Is it not appalling ? HUMANITARIAN action is of limited value if it does not form part of a wider strategic and political framework aimed at addressing the root causes of these conflict. Most of these tragedies are considered political and religious in nature. But that is not the real cause is it?

The perversion of human rights is rampant in our culture as well, albeit, clearly less overt than countries who operate under Shariah Law.

And, no, it won't end, here or there, until people refuse to tolerate the dictatorship of their lives and minds.

When people have the courage and the will to stand up for themselves - to slap down government and religious leaders who look at them as disposable pawns in their evil schemes and money machines - perhaps then, it will end.

The middle east is a very, very old culture. They aren't all that impressed with the results of our 200 year old society and many aren't interested in duplicating it in their country.

I would recommend we clean up our own back yard, fix our weapons on any country who poses a real threat, live and let live and... only if ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY... fire away.

So here is the deal...Why is the United States supporting all these dictatorships? Like Pakistan "Our Allie in the War on Terror", Egypt, Saudi Arabia? Yes the countries themselves do take the responsibility but perhaps we should look at our own actions.

P.S. This country is slowly sinking into a dictatorship. Remember those who give up their freedom for safety get neither. In reference to the illgeal NSA wiretaps.

I think once this Islamic Extremist Era passes it will... In the middle ages Christians were doing almost the same things as they are now, while Islamic people were the leaders in science, math, philosophy, etc.

But sadly enough it may not be tomorrow, or next week, or 5 years from now...

I firmly believe that God will change the face and the dominion of Islam in my life time. Islam has gone on long enough in its present form. People every where must be free.

Yes of course. Democracy takes time. Look at all the progress since 1776 around the world.

"A rose, by any other name..."

Conversely,

A dictatorship by any other name -- is still a dictatorship.

Currently, it's Sharia Law. Tomorrow?

Next decade?

You make it sound like we are not violating human rights with our current "interrogation" techniques. And we do it in the name of G-d (many would say we do it to protect our country, but we are "one nation under god" are we not?) just like they do. I'm not saying that they are not bad people for doing such a thing to a raped young woman. But, it's much like the pot calling the kettle black.

As long as we defend and protect a regime like this while pretending a secular (but still abysmal) regime is a threat to us - no it will not end.
