I'm always pretty curious when I walk through a Muslim, Jewish, Chinese, Cypriot, other part of town. I'm interested in other cultures and it's strange to see different types of food in the shops and people wearing different styles of clothing. In some places it's a whole area and in others there'll be just one street that has a strong ethnic feel to it. Living in London I take it all in as part of cosmopolitan life.

I think why is that idiot kid ---- writing racist, bigot xenophobic statements on steel shop shutters all over the place. really he needs a good kick up the *** not the ASBO collection he has. I wonder how the old lady in the local shop copes with his bigot tauts day in day out since he was five. I wonder what chip on the shoulder his dad has, not Mrs ------ fault ------ closed down is it. Not her fault that unlike her husband who used the redundancy payment to buy a lease on a shop rather than spend it down in the pub. Not her are his fault that he didn't take a chance and risk failing.
that is what i think when i walk down my street. I think of how some people took a chance when they got let go from jobs years ago and used the talent they got to start a small business rather than blame the world

Why did we ever allow 'parts of towns' to become areas where only a certain religion or 'type' of person could stay.
I know how it happened, and that everyone could see what was happening but we never did anything about it, so if you do think of anything when going through these areas, think about that......or else think, what the hell am I doing here !!

First of all I have to say that I don't know if everyone is Muslim but they are not the indigenous white population. I have walked through an area which in the 1950s was inhabited by working class people and a percentage of little old ladies. The steps were always scrubbed and the net curtains kept very white. They used to come out and tell us to stop sitting on their wall, a request with which we complied.
Now it's scruffy looking with dustbins on the pavement with big white numbers badly painted on them, litter blowing in the wind and filthy net curtains dragged across windows hanging from drooping curtain springs.
This is the truth, you can call me what you like and thumbs down to your heart's content.

Nothing more than when I walk through any other part of town, I am not against anyone or their culture, unlike you I guess for asking the question.

I am not aware that there is a Muslim area in my town (Aberdeen). I prefer to think that in Scotland we are more tolerant of everyone & treat everyone the same.

Not goinog to get mugged by chavs or glassed by drunks at night. may not be cleaner than other areas, probably due to poverty but less dangerous.

I usually think of my destination.I am aware of what is around me, but I'm always more interested in what I have to do and where I have to be.
