I'm 19 and I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for almost a year now, and I've taken it every day at 8:00am. Now I've been having some symptoms that seem pregnancy-like to me (although I've never been pregnant). My boobies hurt a lot (sometimes they do before my period, but it's 2 weeks early for that) and I'm exhausted all the time. I'm getting at least 12 hours of sleep a night, and it's not enough! What do you guys think? Also, do sore boobies go along with low thyroid (Hashimoto's)? Because I know the exhaustion could suggest that, and both my sisters have it. Thanks for any advice!

It isn't likely that you are pregnant as the pill is 98-99% effective if taken properly (and it sounds like you take it properly).

I would definitely go to the doctor to figure out what's going on. They may do a pregnancy test to eliminate it from consideration. Sleeping 12 hours a night and having it not be enough is not normal.

Go see a doc!

Birth control works by tricking your body into thinking its pregnant.
Sore breasts are a side-effect for almost every woman on the pill.
You are, however, taking a very low-dose of birth control, so pregnancy is a possibility.
High-dose birth control is really not good for women, especially if you start young.

Good luck.
