My favorite spot is up in the North Land of Maine, where its about a 5.0 to 5.5 in good conditions.

I now live on a farm out in the country (Ontario) and so my favourite spot is on my deck just outside my back door. The limiting magnitude is around 6 most nights:

I'd say right at flame at the end of the Statue of Liberty's arm would be the best spot.
Be careful of Geoff G spots, he's a Canadian farmer and Canadians, as a nation, are more poorly educated in science and astronomy than most countries, and so are less able to identify what they see in the sky.

I like to setup next to my garage, where my astronomy gear is stored. It blocks the light my neighbour leaves on all the time and provides easy access to power.
I live near a country town in Queensland. I've not actually measured it properly, but I'd guess mag 5ish. It all depends if the neighbour turns his blasted lights off.
