HAHA, sorry your getting use to psychology, but buddy, you don't understand its faliacies. That aside, lets be honest here, you ARE talking about a normal COPING mechanism used by all people, that is completely understood by psychology BECUASE THERES F'IN 7 DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT!!!!!!!!! When are people going to realize that psychology is shattered by human symbolism? But I digress, your thearipist job isn't exactly to give names to your disorders, his/her job is to make you aware of them, and also make you aware of the cause's and how to best fix them within yourself. Another misconception, his job is to guide, not control you to your fix. That all aside, a person could EASILY, dependent on other interpersonal relationships, be obsessed with their ability to go into a surreal, fantasy world. Its the imagination buddy. Now for your precieved inability to control this can have a "chemical" cause, all thou I hate that f'in idea, but alas schozo's does prove its possible. But in your case, it would be on the thearipist to get your story out of you, and see if theirs any blank spots, THEN have you try and fill in the spaces. As far as an inability to leave a imagary world when you, yourself PRECIEVE your in their, I'm crying BS. You'd be like the frist case. The only possibility I see is whats not as "waking" dreams, something myself had. It was because of my insomia thou, caused by the fact I had apparently grown out of my ADhD and the medication was causing some craziness in my frontal lobe. But as a tramantic experience causing this, you'd be less in touch with your social self then this, you'd be pretty unable to express yourself, which is most likly WHY your thearpist is having such a hard time. Ask him what he knows about "Waking Dreams" and tell him a little bit more about your sleeping habits, even getting to much sleep can be a sign of insomia, it isn't exactly a disorder that keeps you from sleeping, it keeps you from entering the deeper rem sleep you need to dream. THIS because its necassary causes you to dream in a waking state, strange stuff. Also do you have whats known as "incubus rebound"? Ask your thearpist about that one too. Personally I think this is a more a reflection of a sleep disorder, then a tramatic experience, but thats based on my own experience.....

It's called Dissociation. I've done it for years. Only a doctor can tell whether or not its something to be concerned about.
